Douglas J. Rivera, MD, is a board-certified cancer specialist and board-certified radiation oncologist.
Dr. Rivera earned his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He completed a residency at Duke University, where he served as Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Columbia University. Dr. Rivera was a clinical research fellow at Harvard and the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Rivera has received the American Brachytherapy Society – Seattle Prostate Brachytherapy Fellow Award, 2005; the Outstanding Student in Rural Health Award, 2000; the American Federation for Medical Research – Gastroenterology Research Award, 1998; the American College of Physicians – National Student Abstract Award, 1998; and the Western Student Medical Research Forum – Excellence in Research Award, 1998.
Dr. Rivera has published articles in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics (2004); Surgery (2000); Transplantation Proceedings (1999).
He is a member of the American College of Radiology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology & Oncology, the American Brachytherapy Society, and the American Medical Association.
