Ali K. Choucair, MD, (pronounced ‘SHOE-care) is a board-certified neuro-oncologist and has more than 34 years of experience caring for patients with conditions and diseases of the nervous system. Dr. Choucair diagnoses and treats brain and spinal cord tumors and treats patients with neurological complications stemming from other types of cancer and its treatments.
He collaborates with physicians from related specialties, including medical oncology, neurosurgery and radiation oncology, to provide a comprehensive approach to treatment.
Dr. Choucair earned a medical degree from the University of Calgary School of Medicine in Canada, completing an internal medicine residency at Foothills Hospital in Calgary and a neurology residency at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He then went on to complete a neuro-oncology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, Brain Tumor Research Center.

To enhance the care of his patients, Dr. Choucair has been involved in neurology and oncology research throughout his career. He has received a number of research grants, has been cited in more than 40 publications, and has been part of more than 75 professional presentations. Additionally, he has served in teaching and leadership roles across the country.
In addition to English, Dr. Choucair is proficient in Arabic and possesses basic language skills in German. He is a founding member of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (NRG).
