Dr. Thomas is a board-certified surgeon from the American Board of Surgery. She specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases of the breast, including benign and malignant diseases. She takes care of her patients from the time of diagnosis to recovery with compassionate care using the latest technologies. She performs both ultrasound guided and stereotactic guided breast biopsies to achieve a quick diagnosis. She has the skill and expertise to provide the best treatment with the most desirable outcomes.
Dr. Thomas received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in zoology from The University of Texas at Austin. She attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she completed both her general surgery internship and residency.
Awards & Research
Dr. Thomas helped to establish the Breast and Oncology clinic at Austin Cancer Center’s North Austin location. This clinic offers patients the combined experience of breast surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists who are working together as a team to treat each patient with dedicated focus. Our approach offers convenience for the patient and fluid communication to develop a tailored treatment plan for each patient, recognizing their individual needs.
Sherrie Thomas was recognized in 2017, 2018 and 2019 by Super Doctors Texas Rising Stars.
Dr. Thomas received the Thomas F. Nealon, MD Endowed Award for Excellence in Surgery and the Herman A. Barnett Memorial Award for Excellence in Surgery and Anesthesia.
Dr. Thomas is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
